Reference, extremely hard to come by. I can't seem to find a lot of pictures for old 14th century type dungeons/prisons.
Here are some websites I found.

It's not a lot to go off of. I need to run to the library on Monday to pick up some books on castles and prisons.
Think I might go with an Alcatraz type look for the prison, but instead of it being modern, I'll make it more rustic.
That's making me more confident about designing the cells, but the hallway and room before the prison I'm unsure about. I need better photos and reference. Need to get some fine and little details that will make it look worth while.
The room before the hallway I want to make it like some kind of desk workers area. Like, where the guard would sit and.. keep watch. Except.. in ruin and destroyed.
The hallway I can't think of anything fine and unique to add. The camera will be running through this part, so too much detail wouldn't be noticed anyway during the 2 to 6 seconds the camera is actually in there.

I would like to include drawings of the prison interior I want to be modeling and an animatic. Also, I can scan some nice photos that I find in the books I'm picking up from the library.
Also, I'm going to watch clips of movies to help me get a feel for the environment.
Green Mile - Shawshank Redemption - Mystic River - Chronicles of Riddick
Do you have any good movies with scenes that will help me? Something with a prison in it, heh. Time era.. 14th century? I'm assuming thats what the time period I'm picturing in my head.
The time of iron, bricked stone walls, wooden floors and furniture, candle lights, etc...
